As an oil painter, my work delves into the emotional landscape shaped by our fast-paced, ever-changing society, with a particular focus on how it impacts marginalized groups. My journey across different cities, including my home in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, Melbourne, Australia, Montreux, Switzerland, and the United States, has profoundly influenced my creative process. The rhythm of urban life feels like a constant shift, as if I’m leaping between different times and places, forging connections with multiple cities along the way. This diversity and global influence is reflected in my work.
My artistic practice is deeply intertwined with my anxieties and the tension of navigating the pressures of modern life. I immerse myself in the varied tempos of different cultures, channeling feelings of displacement, pain, and isolation into my art. I express my inner turmoil through bold, highly saturated colors, aiming to capture the viewer’s attention and evoke a strong emotional response. This personal connection infuses my work with a profound intimacy and authenticity.
